Carrier Ethernet Deployment

Carrier Ethernet deployment is picking up pace as Ethernet becomes a widely-accepted, carrier-grade service suite – not only on a per-project basis, but also as standard commercial offerings, with common pricing models and structured service levels.

That said, Carrier Ethernet deployment depends on service providers’ ability to cost-effectively overcome two key challenges: The diversity of existing access and transport networks, and the need to meet user expectations for SLA accountability. Carrier Ethernet deployment therefore requires clear demarcation at the customer premises, to monitor and enforce SLA agreements, and to provide adequate service control across different transport links.
